This man is packing and moving bushels of seafood. The hook in his hand is used to grab the bushels and drag them along the ground. Most people working in the market had a similar hook. The Fulton Street Fish Market operated in this location near the Brooklyn Bridge for 183 years until it was relocated to the Bronx in 2005.
