After harvest apples are washed and sorted in prepartion for storage at a facility in the neighboring town. Great care is taken in the handling of the apples as any blemish will lower the value of the fruit. Too ugly a blemish and the apple is made into cider. Apples in the produce section of a grocery store are reffered to as table apples and are relatively free of blemishes and fetch a higher price for the farmer.
